Hello, I want to increase the amount of memory in my laptop, there is a free slot. Model xiaomi mi notebook pro i5.

But how can I tell if it is compatible with my laptop or not?

No, not compatible.
I don't know the exact specs of xiaomi mi notebook pro i5, but I'm pretty sure there is no SATA.
Therefore, a SATA drive will not fit there.
The laptop is fresh and only supports NVMe drives, while the old SATA3 interface does not support.
