Is there any way to disable Google+ UI in Google Maps?

On small screens, their "login" button takes up a lot of space, and if clicked on, takes them to another website, minimizing usability in the map area.

Disabling the default UI disableDefaultUI: true does not help.
Is there any way to nail this thing? Very annoying :(
