Is there any point in a soap dish?

Is there any point in soapbox cameras now?
Let's say a person goes on vacation, wants to take pictures, not for AP or for an exhibition of photo artists, but just as a keepsake, in a personal photo archive.
Does it make sense to take a soap box with you (for example, Nikon coolpix P340) if you have a modern smartphone in your pocket (for example, iPhone 5 or 5S)?

There's a meaning. The photos will be of better quality, plus they will not charge the smartphone. Perhaps the disadvantage is the lack of geotags in the photo in the pictures from the soap box. It won't take up much more space.
