Is there any danger in using 32 libraries on a 64 bit system?

Hello everyone,
Recently I encountered the fact that it was impossible to update on the same server with telephony (centos 5), there were a lot of strange errors, but they all led to Google)
So Google says that this is due to the use of 32 bit packages. I quickly ran a script that showed me all 32-bit packages and, according to my plan, it should check whether there is the same 64-bit package, if not, then install it after deletion.
But something is scary somehow ....)

And you are right to be afraid! I think hardly anyone will predict the behavior of the system.
If I were you, I would make a copy of the disk and deploy it on a virtual machine, and I already experimented there

well, make a full backup and conduct your experiments without fear and reproach.

What are you trying to install, what commands lead to this? I suspect that there really is no problem. And, yes, centos, like debian, works great with different architectures at the same time, the main thing is that what you install works well.
