Is there an extensible, modular, paid/free CMS with good internal design?
I've been looking for one for several days now. There really aren't many requirements.
First, you need good extensibility. Possibility of writing non-standard modules and their easy connection.
Secondly, MVC is desirable. Don't misunderstand me, but working with Wordpress-like systems is a little annoying.
Thirdly, we need good documentation describing the structure, workflow and internal structure. If this is difficult to do, then you want to have a clean and understandable code inside so that you can figure it out yourself.
And fourthly, as a dessert, I want to have an extensive set of standard modules so as not to write everything by hand from scratch (you need a store, galleries, a forum, etc.)
Most likely, such a product will be paid, and this is quite acceptable. It would not be superfluous and a nice admin interface. Does such a miracle exist?

Recently I started working with modx - in my opinion a very good cms.
Drupal fits all the boxes. MVC is really implemented there in a very peculiar way, but, in general, it's good.
You can take a look at ExpressionEngine from the developers of CodeIgniter, the second version of which is written on their own framework.
CI is famous for its excellent documentation, therefore it is no worse for EE) - expressionengine.com/user_guide/
Add-ons catalog - devot-ee.com/add-ons/filter?s=date
+1 for ExpressionEngine - one of the best engines out there. Paid and in the Russian Federation, the computer is rather weak, but having understood this system, you can create websites in a matter of hours by fully customizing the control panel to the user's needs. I worked with other systems - MODx, Drupal, Wordpress - everything is not the same. There is no ease and flexibility. The code of the engine itself is very clean.
www.prestashop.com/ had little to do with her, but at first glance she did not seem terrible.
Magento, for example, is a very solid CMS. There is MVC and documentation and various communities and ready-made modules (although they need to be looked at well, sometimes crutches are stuffed), and it develops very well.
what about frameworks? from which you can already assemble your site with your goodies ...
