Is there a way to roam offline home directories?

The task is to store /home on the server. Always used pam_mount on desktops for this and pam_csync on laptops. The latter allows you to synchronize files during login and logout. But I would like the changes to be immediately written to the server when it is available. Googled only the dead offline file system . Has anyone done this?
