Is there a way to colorize a png image?

The crux of the issue is in the title. For example, by class or pointing PNG, fill the image with a solid color, if this is possible then how, or will you have to use sprites?

If you mean paint the entire surface or background at all then use after or before with absolute positioning and appropriate coloring.
If it is necessary that the picture is monochromatic, it changes its color with the actions of the user. Then there is an option to simply make the PNG image transparent on a white background. And fill the background of the block with the color corresponding to the event. This is if one picture.
