First question. Is there any limit in magento on the total number of items in the store?
And the second question. What are the hosting requirements to host an IM on magento with about 100,000 products?

Most likely, the maximum number of products will be limited only by the dimension of auto-incrementing fields in the database. The first one will end with catalog_product_entity_int or catalog_product_entity_varchar.
That is, theoretically, the maximum number of products = 4294967295(max. unsigned integer) / number of attributes.
Where "number of attributes" - not all, but only one type, to which more attributes belong.
I have never encountered this and most likely you will not have problems with this (although one day, thanks to a third-party module, we ran out of core_store, and who would have thought).
The number of products does not really affect the hosting requirements (unless you need to figure out how much space you need for pictures), here you should rather proceed from the expected attendance
