Is there a future for a microcontroller programmer?
I'm thinking of starting to explore this field of activity. But I have doubts about the fact that the age of low-level programming has already passed. Is it true that the future belongs to robotics?

Now more than ever there is a future. Considering Western sanctions on high-tech equipment for the military-industrial complex. An ex-colleague works in a state-owned company, where they write in C and Java for embedded systems. Big salaries and many orders.
Of course have! A bunch of vacancies for embedder developers, ranging from very simple picks to sparc/mips/arm. And if you know something from the world of RTOS like VxWorks, QNX and the company, you will always find a job.
A lot of iron is being made, to which both existing software / OS is ported, and a lot of new things are being written, from teapots / coffee makers to automotive / aero.
Only in our business center I personally know 5 companies, their developments and software.
And this is not counting the military-industrial complex (and about), which I also personally know where and what.
Salaries are different everywhere (both very high and medium and low) and it all depends both on qualifications and on the company.
I started out as an embedded software developer and have now moved to .NET. I think that there is a demand, because the area is quite specific and there are not so many good specialists compared to other areas of development.
There is a future. The question is, do you have a heart for it? Try and understand. Is it your business.
