Is there a big difference in writing a java application for desktop and web?

Suppose you wrote a desktop program in swing, does the set of code for the same program differ greatly only under the web? I hope I explained clearly. Thank you all dear!

Yes, the difference is usually big. But there are frameworks that will facilitate the transition to the WEB, and work on similar principles. I recommend looking at Apache Wicklet https://wicket.apache.org/ and Vaadin - https://vaadin.com/
