Is there a best practice for using Google Analytics to collect crash and exception data?

Hello!
I would like to use Google Analytics to collect data about crashes and exceptions of a mobile application. GA has Crashes and Exceptions functionality, but it is very limited, although it would seem that this is so logical in GA.
Maybe some of you are already using GA to monitor application performance? Did you set up Custom Dimensions to pass more detailed information about the exception? Can you share some life hacks?
