Is there a backup package with an emphasis on today's date?

Hello. The fear of losing data is getting stronger every day. About backupninja, rsnapshot and duplicity in the know, not quite what you need. Most of all I liked rsnapshot - because of the ease of recovery. But I am confused by the fact that at a given time the computer can be turned off and I will miss a weekly or monthly backup. I decided that I would backup manually, it’s calmer and more familiar, besides, I can monitor changes and server availability (backups are stored on vps). But manually writing backup hourly|daily|weekly|monthly, depending on the time, is a little annoying. I decided that it would be much more convenient to always write push, and let the script decide for itself what to do. The procedure is as follows: the system date is taken and a directory with that name is created. The next time the command is called, the script will either overwrite the last directory (if the day has not changed), or create a new one. When the number of directories exceeds x, the oldest one is removed. Hard links are required. I'm not familiar with bash, I don't feel like writing myself.

First, describe the problem normally, how much to backup where. Regularity?
BD not BD? Where to pour? Increment not increment?
Well, secondly, having become acquainted with bash, you will understand that the utilities do not make sense.
You still think in Windows terminology.
