Is the number of cores important for a particular laptop?

How optimal is it to take this laptop, given that the processor has two cores?
Purposes of use: coding, building networks in cisco and playing a little.

Very heavy IDEs can slow down. It will be possible to play very little (for games, all the same, rather weak hardware).
