Is the job of a web developer in demand?

Is web development currently in demand (especially interested in opinions about front-end development)? And will it be in demand in the near future? I saw different opinions on the web about this - from "yes, a very necessary skill, the future belongs to the web" to "this is the bottom, now any moron in the site builder will be able to build a simple site, and more is not required." Who to believe?

Bottom, of course. The guys took it and riveted it in a day in the soundcloud website builder!

Who to believe?

Nobody.
Go to job listing sites and look for vacancies. Based on this, draw conclusions about the demand for specialists.

Ambiguous
What is bad about IT technologies is that they are available to anyone and the entry threshold is very low.
Schoolchildren, disabled people, Ukrainians - they all go to IT more often than anywhere else, so there is some dumping of this profession by the above groups. Technology quickly becomes obsolete, you constantly have to "be in the know."
Pros - in demand anywhere in the world, because. technologies are universal, you can work remotely.

from "yes, a very necessary skill, the future belongs to the web"

These are not mutually exclusive things.
The skill is necessary, and it is also the bottom. Here, as they already said here - the seller needs the skill, there are a lot of shops and stalls in the country. It's the same with the frontend. To hell with the same type of tasks, and all boring like "The Old Man and the Sea". The entry threshold is low. The results are usually evaluated according to the principle - "well, it works, it's beautiful, it doesn't slow down too much - everything is ok."
You flip through the Toaster and see what tags they ask for.
PS The web is not the first decade, the web is not the future, the web is the present. And the fact that the schoolchildren and disabled people listed by Alexander understand pages with js code as "web" and do not even know, for example, what REST really is - this is the result of a low entry threshold.

"One at a time is not necessary." It depends not only on the profession itself, but also on the person. What matters is how you do the job. In general, the number of sites is growing every day and people are needed who will do all this.
There is no unclaimed profession !

Sales job required. A good seller can sell anything and make the client enjoy a crooked site.
Like at a construction site. The main thing is not to build, the main thing to hand over!

There are a lot of vacancies, roll in, welcome!
If you have enough ambition to stay afloat for two years.
If you constantly spin, study, look for orders, sell your carcass.
You will feel good. The main thing is not to stop!

Well, how can I say ... you are sitting on different sites and their number is growing, there will always be those who are willing to pay for the creation of the site.
As for the forecast, I saw somewhere that website building will be in great demand.
