Is react native performance enough for chat?

I have not been working with RN for a very long time. Now there is a task to make a chat visually similar to a telegram, respectively, the question is whether RN will cope with such a task (provided that everything is written correctly) or is it better not to waste time and make native applications right away?

I had a react native project to write a chat. I used https://github.com/FaridSafi/react-native-gifted-chat and firebase. And performance there was just right.
