Is MacBook Air M1 (2020) suitable for gamedev in Unity?
Good afternoon. I want to ask experts. How will the new macbook go for the development of small, indie games (mostly mobile) based on Unity? Will there be any problems if you do not take into account the diagonal of the screen.
In the sense that the built-in vidyuha will not adequately pull tests before compilation, etc. possible pitfalls.

Air graphics are good. But Unity will run under Rosetta , which will gobble up some of the power.
Also, air has one graphic core blocked .

Hello, I have been working in the field of marine simulators (3D and mat modeling) and virtual reality for 10 years, before that in game development.
since 2015, he switched to work on msi laptops (business trips + remote work), Windows and mobile versions of video cards were more than pleasing, he worked in Unity, 3dsMax and substance.
since 2017, he switched to active development on ue4, visual + network + VR multiplatform.
Windows 10 has become frustrating + most of the time it is in updates and then one falls off then the second, rebuild the project = loss of time, at critical moments the eye was already twitching. the epic file was at exhibitions (twice), when Windows decided that the user was nobody and went into the process of updating in spite of all policies))) ltsb did not roll, there were reasons.
since 2020, he moved to a macbook pro 16 "+ ai9 + 5500m 8gb, Windows in the parallels sandbox, there are small nuances but you can survive, maybe small ones)) ue4 collects both on poppy, and on Windows, and on astroline, and on android, and
after the release of the M1, I waited six months and bought my wife an Air Sr. with an 8 nuclear GPU, installed a blender, T-shirt, anril, substance and an affinity package (for me, the base) - according to the results, the performance is actually the same as on my mbp16. !!! it's a shame, because the mbp has only the advantage of a large screen, but this is not a fact, because I work on an external Monica mainly.
BUT! forget about complex shaders and RTX, otherwise it's normal
ps the system manager is already for the Old Believers, no matter how you describe all its charms to me here, there is no desire to see this coffin again on the table or under the table.
If you want to run under ios or osx, then yes, it makes no sense to mess with virtual machines, etc., if this is not the case, then buy a good laptop on windows, now there are many worthy models, I recently bought from asus rog, at a price slightly lower than a poppy, but by power behind the eyes, ps. I also have a poppy, but it's more like a typewriter
It makes no sense to buy a macbook for game development, except for indie projects. I'm already silent about the unreal engine. For 150k, you can buy a good system unit.
