Is it worth using typescript along with react?

I saw one video in which an Asian writes an application in typescript react, it seemed strange, I had not met anyone before, who thinks this is a normal practice? I understand this is still the same javascript, but are there any advantages over es6 and the benefit of using it with react? Tell us about your experience can someone used such a bunch?
