Is it worth teaching DS at a separate faculty?

I'm going to a new IT university. There is an opportunity to choose Computer Science, IT and Data Science faculties. I want to work with neurons / AI, so I'm thinking of choosing a DS faculty, but is it better to enroll in CS, and learn DS myself?
In one of his interviews with an NN proger, he said that only an idiot would spend 4 years of his life on the DS faculty, when you can learn it yourself.

In universities, especially new ones, the specific program, set of subjects, teachers and access to goodies like internships are more important than the name of the faculty.

Difficult question, because There are many examples of qualified specialists without diplomas at all. But nowadays, it is better to have something in paper form - diplomas, certificates, etc. And you still have to study on your own and a lot ...
