Is it worth learning yii from scratch?
Decided to do one project. Since I am not a programmer, I paid for the development of the site in one of the companies. They wrote it to me in yii. I am not ready to constantly pay for improvements and I want to move away from them. Does it make sense to quickly learn the basics of yii so that you can make small changes on the site? Or is it not even worth taking on this and looking for a programmer?
He himself is a techie by education, at the university he programmed a little, but at the level of hello, word! If there is a point, then how long can I start practicing? And where to start, right away with yii or do you need some amount of php?
In general, there is a desire to at least be able to understand the code of your site, but so far in confusion, to climb or not :)

In general, in any case, it is better to hire. you need to do what brings the maximum profit, for example, to develop your business, and not to dig into the revisions of the site. We all eat dumplings and most even know how to sculpt them, but we buy ready-made dumplings, which, although worse than homemade ones, save time and effort.
To broaden your horizons, of course, it will be useful to know this, but you need to understand that a decent amount of time will be spent, and time is a non-renewable resource. If you imagine your life as a business, it will be a little easier, you need to be a good manager of your life. You will be ready to spend time on something, not on something. Somewhere you will hire workers, somewhere you will do what. There was an article on harb / gigtimes about pseudo-goals, I advise you to read it. If your goal is to write code, to enjoy it, then go ahead. But if your goal is to make a facebook, ebay, etc. killer. it's best to plan for that. Or if you sell your products (pipes, meat, milk, chairs, furniture, etc.) why do you need to know how your business card site works and write something to it, it’s better to spend time improving your products? This is just my opinion.
If you are not going to program, you will lose time, become a very worthless customer.
The point here is not that you don’t feed all programmers directly with bread, let someone deceive, but that the customer who does not understand anything (does not set strict requirements) and the one who can do it himself (specifies as much as possible how and what ) is an order of magnitude better than the one who knows a little. The fact is that a little knowledgeable will always follow the simplest path, which in most cases is complete crap, here's an example for you:
$abc = 5 + '5abc' + 'abc5';
echo $abc;
