Oleg Petrov, 2017-08-17 20:32:18

Is it worth learning Cobol?

I read that all banks work in this language.

I don’t know in which banks they write in cobol, but in the default city, agile, blockchain have been everywhere for a long time and everyone is coding applications in python, java, c ++.
Actual for large banks, infa 100%

There are no vacancies on HH. This means that we have few vacancies where Cobol is needed. Very little. If you find a vacancy through your friends, you will be welcome (well, if you understand the topic), because. There are almost no specialists on the market, and those who are are already pensioners for the most part. But at the same time, you will have a small choice of places where you can work at all. If something does not work out with the current place, then it will be problematic to go somewhere. So yes, for general development, you can get acquainted, but with the application everything is difficult - lucky / unlucky.

Be a dinosaur among dinosaurs. And it’s still worth growing a beard, then they will definitely outrage.
And on the topic: until you find where to apply knowledge, then there is no point in them.
