Is it safe to pay in online stores directly with a visa?

All foreign online stores have the option of paying with a visa directly, that is, without PayPal and other things. In fact, the online store sees all the data about my card, but what prevents it from withdrawing any amount from it without my knowledge? Is it safe to use direct payment with a visa without intermediaries?

If in doubt, issue a Qiwi or Yandex virtual card, keep it empty, and transfer the required amount from the main card when making purchases.

Yes, that's why they spread it in kilograms, because it's one thing to get this data and it's quite, quite another to use it to your advantage.
But it is better to use PayPal whenever possible: yes, an unauthorized transaction can be challenged and even quickly stopped, but when two banks are involved, the issuer and the acquirer, yes, plus Visa, even with a timely response, the case risks dragging on.
