Is it possible to write for the web in a compiled language now?

Do you really want to write for the web in a normal compiled language, and not in JavaScript? Is it possible now or do we need to wait for web-assembly?
It's about the frontend !

The server part can be written on anything. Part of JS is JS only, VB won't work for half of the internet.

On the server side, you can for a long time: CGI to help you.

if we are talking about the frontend, then there are frameworks that allow you to develop a frontend, for example, in java or scala, which will then be compiled into js.
there is no other option yet.

For Java I can recommend GWT.

Typescript. Although, if JS is hard to master, can it change the area?
