DDoS Protection

Is it possible to use several services at the same time to protect against DDOS?

Good afternoon friends. I am a developer, several client sites have been subjected to massive DDoS attacks in recent days and the hoster simply turns them off completely, which of course does not suit the client. I am not an expert in this matter, I sat down to google and came to the conclusion that at the moment one of the most effective (in terms of price / complexity of implementation / quality) protection methods is the use of special services like cloudflare, ddos-guard, stormwall and others. If I'm wrong - please correct and point to a more suitable solution for the layman.

So, two questions arose:
1) Both on cloudflare and on ddos-guard, DDoS protection is generally indicated in the free plan. It is not clear whether it makes sense to buy paid (and which ones) tariffs and why. Can anyone point out particularly important things about this moment?
2) Is it possible to use both of these services at the same time for more reliable protection and filtering? Those. I will indicate the real addresses of the hosting server, for example, to cloudflare, I will indicate their addresses in ddos-guard, and I will indicate the addresses of the guard in the domain settings. Will this work and does it make sense at all, will the reliability of the attack increase? And, if I understand correctly, from the obvious disadvantages - this is that the response speed of the site as a whole will drop because of this, right?

Large DDoS protection services like cloudflare have their own white, gray and black lists of networks, etc., so if after the first DDoS protection provider there is a second one, it will not be able to work effectively, as it will only see connections from the second provider. (this is if you want to connect them in series)

Our small banana sorting organization has recently received a lot of orders. It happens that at once ten applications a day against the usual one or two. We simply do not have enough space to receive them all. And bananas in applications began to come across of very poor quality, it happens that 99% of the application is sorted as rotten. We decided to go to a well known large banana grading plant and now they are sorting bananas for us. There is no more rot, it no longer takes up space, only liquid is being brought to us. Tell me, will it help me in this situation if I agree with another large banana sorting plant, and he will pre-sort what is now going to the plant with which we already have an agreement? Or is it better to distribute the bananas between these two large plants equally?
