Is it possible to see the kernel output when booting a linux distribution on an Intel NUC platform?

When loading a liveDVD distribution (I tried calculate), after the bootloader, the screen turns black and the system does not boot, Xs do not start. I would like to at least read the exhaust in the console. Is it possible for the intel NUC to give some command when loading the kernel? (video= something there)
Behind the bootloader I get 2 lines: no suitable video mode found. Booting in blind mode.
I tried the System Rescue CD and the console is displayed there, and X's are loaded.
Perhaps in Live distributions the kernel is compiled in such a way that the command to the kernel will not work everywhere.
But maybe you can give me some advice?
In general, I would like to install Calculate to begin with. But for this, at least get into the console and understand what is happening there.
