I made a bootable USB flash drive, installed it, did not see the second system when booting UEFI. I have an Acer Aspire running Windows 10 and ubuntu bionic. I installed this thing about a year ago. So the direct answer to the question is yes, you can.
I remember from the details that it seems that I had to turn off UEFI somewhere in the BIOS and install it without it.
