Is it possible to reinstall Linux without losing data?

Now Kubuntu is installed, I want to install Linux Mint, but I would not want to configure and install everything again. Separate partitions for /home; /; /boot; swap.
If you install without formatting /home, then those settings and programs that are stored in /home will be lost.

@delphikettle

if you don't format /home , the data will still be saved.
