Is it possible to recover an mp3 file weighing 0 bytes from a voice recorder?

In the process of recording to the recorder (a separate device, not a phone), I turned it off with the lever without stopping the recording. Later I discovered that the audio file is unreadable and weighs 0 bytes, I tried to restore it with Recurva, but it swears at zero file weight :( Are there any ways to restore the file? Or is it lost forever?
