Is it possible to publish a standalone ASP.NET Core application (site)?

The page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/deploying/ says:

Publishing a standalone app creates an app that includes the .NET Core runtime and libraries, as well as the app and its dependencies. Users of the app can run it on a machine that does not have the .NET Core runtime installed .

As far as I understand this applies to executable files.

Did this about a week ago. Elf plus config. And of course the nginx setup. If interested, I'll throw off the configs a little later

In the publisher's dialog, on the Settings tab, specify "Target runtime = Portable" - isn't it?
