Is it possible to program on chrome book?

Hello!
In general, the essence is this, I’m thinking about buying a chrome book, or just a beech)) The essence is this, you need a laptop in order to sometimes surf the Internet, program simple modules in Php, make layout and the like while lying on the couch, on a bench, in cafe, etc. I would like a powerful battery, and a comfortable keyboard, well, a small weight)) I think to buy a chrome book, but I'm not sure that the functionality is enough. Therefore, the question is, will it be possible to put Windows, Linux, MacOS there if you choose compatible hardware?

There you can put ONLY unix systems. And you can write programs on ChromOS in the cloud. Asked this question myself. As a result, I bought myself a cheap Lenovo and made a workstation out of it. I usually do everything either at work or in the apartment on a desktop computer.

Is it even possible to work normally on a laptop? The performance is like that of a computer only on expensive models, one small monitor, a hard connection between the keyboard and the monitor. Carry a mousepad and mouse around or be a touchpad Jedi. I only get it if something urgently needs to be done in the field.

I remember they released a USB bootable version. Roll the image and test, then decide whether to buy a laptop. Regarding the change to Ubuntu - easy habrahabr.ru/post/204452

Sooner or later, a php programmer comes to an ide, like phpstorm, and then chromeOS becomes a curse. It is necessary to look at the hardware, if it is sane for another OS, then there is a rear for retreat. But as a rule, a chrome-book is a dull shnyaga for a grandmother to climb through the mail and look at pictures.
What was announced as chromeOS and what happened are two big differences. In my opinion, there is a development prospect, but at the moment it is g..no.

Can. And Linux, and even Android (for hardcore). True, there will not be enough space on the ssd.

I'm not sure that a Chromebook is suitable for full-fledged development. The only option is to use it in tandem with some remote server (VPS or the same raspberry) via a white IP address. In this case, there are several options:
1) use a cloud IDE in the manner of the same ICEcoder
2) work directly through an SSH session. Considering that chrome may not have an SSH client, you can again put shellinthebox on the server . It will allow you to work with the console directly from the browser.
One more thing... It is important to take into account such a thing as pulsating traffic. This is true if you work with some 3G modem. If you are distracted for a long time while working with SSH, the server may disconnect.
