Is it possible to not mark emails as read in the gmail mobile app?

I would like to use the gmail client on the phone so that when reading letters remain unread.
There is such a situation that it seems that there is time to read a couple of letters on the way, but at some point you are distracted, you close the mail client, the letter is marked as read and you will never return to it, but you should.
It is clear that there is a "Mark not read" function, and the question is most likely self-organization. But is it possible to configure in the big Gmail or mobile client so that letters are not marked as read at all?
