Is it possible to make the background of the Slide Over window transparent?

Good afternoon. I'm in the process of building a kind of weather widget for IOS that needs to run in Slide Over mode on top of another mapping app.
This is what it looks like now.
Is it possible to make the window background transparent? Or at least reduce its size to fit only the compass?
