Is it possible to make authorization through a token as an additional one (Rails, Devise)?

I didn't quite understand the Devise documentation. It seems that to enter by token, you need to do some kind of separate magic (columns or add something else there). But this is essentially a transition to another login system. Is it possible to have two? For example, when one web application acts both as an API and as a regular site.
