Is it possible to make a website on a domain with a history?

There is a domain that was registered in 2017, I put WordPress on it and that's it. The articles were not written.
After it expired and I did not renew it.
Now I want to use it, the web archive sees only a txt robot on it in 2018.
How will the search engines react if I make a website on it, or is it easier to register a new domain?

If a resource with a "gray" or adult theme was not made on the domain after you, then such sites are usually well promoted.
Just in case, check for external links to the site. Because it happens that they spam the link profile and do not remove links for years. Domains with a spammy profile should not be taken into work.
