Is it possible to make a radial change in translucency?

It is necessary to make the block semi-transparent, but the translucency should change along a radial gradient, that is, the substrate will be lighter in the center and darker at the edges. Under this block there will be a picture. Should work in webkit. In general, is it possible to do this in any way?

If the background is monotonous, you can make an overlay on top with a picture (png), transparent inside and with a background color around the edges.
