Is it possible to leave a 64gb SSD for the Macbook pro system? Or will this not be enough?
I want to make a small upgrade of the macbook and insert a 64gb SSD instead of a CD drive. But in the salon where the poppies are repaired, they told me that 64gb would not be enough for the normal operation of OS X.
Is this true, or are these guys just trying to sell me a more expensive SSD?

Given that you will have an SSD + HDD, then 64 GB for the system should be enough.
But it is worth reading in advance about the organization of work in such an exotic configuration.
PS: Although I would advise you to take the main SSD 128 Gb, and put the HDD in optibay.
a clean system with all drivers weighs about 20GB
+ editors like photoshop and video editors will also take up decent space
+ temporary files that the system will use (for fast work with applications) also require a decent amount, so 64GB is not the best choice
if you plan to work on bare OS and do not install anything, then that's enough
Can be assembled from two Fusion Drives, the system itself will throw on ssd, which is often used
Quite enough. The most important thing is to decide what you are going to put there.
The rest can be run from the HDD slowly but it is possible.
I have 60 GB. And a huge bunch of programs. I can make screenshots if anyone is interested. Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Media Encoder, XCode, these are the big ones. Another 16 GB is free. Worth the yosemite.
