Is it possible to integrate Outlook Social Connector and Rails?

Hello!
Interested in the possibility of integrating the Outlook Social Connector with the Rails project.
I would like to create a user profile page using rails, in which to display data pulled from Exchange - "news", recent actions, "contacts".
As far as I understand from the documentation, the Outlook Social Connector connects an Outlook account with Lync, social. networks, and makes it possible to get these data through the API. Is this data available through the exchange-API in the same way as the user's calendar, user's status is busy/free/OOO/at_meeting, etc.?
Or is Outlook Social Connector a kind of extension that needs to be installed or developed on the EWS side, is it available as an Outlook extension?
Do I understand the essence and concept of the Social Connector correctly?
Is it possible to get the listed information using the API (similar to the exchanger gem )?
