It is possible, but not necessary. Or there must be a really objective need for this, when there are simply no other options. Linux has a place on the server. On the desktop, using Linux is like standing up and having sex in a hammock.

Theoretically possible. Question - why?
Who needs linux on desktop?
- Heterogeneous network administrators
- Programmers
- OSS enthusiasts
Who else can use it?
- Office hamsters, which have only mail, browser and office from working tools. In the presence of a straight-handed administrator, he is even more useful to them than Windows.
Who should not install linux:
- Mom's kakers, who expect that everything will break immediately from the mere presence of Kali on his computer :)
- Anyone who uses photoshop, other adobe tools or other unique software for Windows
- Gamers (only about number of games under linux - no need)
Where do you go?
(JFYI: If we say at home you limit yourself to YouTube, movies and read mail - it’s quite possible to put ...)

Yes, let the beginner put what he wants. Seeker, let him find! The main thing is to understand that everything is learned by trial and error. And there will be no true Zen of Torvalds, as light and sweet as the devils Vindovskie hayut him. Install, try, learn and you will find this happiness in the world of sweet Linux, free from intoxicating proprietaryism, from the envious eye of Gates. May Linus himself be with you!

Yes and no. Ubuntu is fully ready for everyday desktop use and has been for a long time. But you, judging by the question, not very much). Although recently ubuntu has become much more user friendly. And, if you are not interested in games or some specific windows software, then ubuntu can be used as a desktop system. And for me, it is no more complicated than windows for a simple user - both systems look like something very incomprehensible to him. The difference is that finding someone to help set up Windows is still a little easier than someone familiar with linux.
