So that several thousand times per second, according to the schedule, control is transferred to our program. By the way, under Windows, all these programs turned into a roar of a jet engine, remember?
And music is handled by a programmable timer, an iron microcircuit. To make the sound richer, fast arpeggios are usually set up there, units or tens of times per second - the speed of a multitasking general-purpose OS is quite enough.
The sound card controls the speaker on its own, via DMA, without the participation of the processor.
