Is it possible to fully use Steam under Debian?

A gaming laptop with 1050 Ti will be purchased. I don’t want to put ten, because the same debian (or ubunta) is corny more stable. How well does steam and games work under debian? How much difference in fps and the rest. Drivers, of course, proprietary from Nvidia.

Ubuntu 16.04. Proprietary video driver.
~40% of the games in the Steam collection support Linux natively. Performance is about the same as under Windows. Still, approximately, ~20% are playable under wine (PlayOnLinux).
There are more minor problems than under Windows. Somewhere you have to force DX9, somewhere there are no Steam achievements, somewhere the game is sure at the first start that there is a joystick, and you need to go through the starting quest "be able to switch the layout to the keyboard"...

Yes, I allow you.
I use Debian GNU/Linux and Ubuntu GNU/Linux myself, and I let you if you ask "May I?".

I had experience with hubunta and stim. The son played in team fortress 2. In general, tolerable. The problems started the moment he asked for my summer car which is VIN ONLY. I advise you to check the game wishlist in advance for the presence of platform lin. I don't even consider Wine.
