it will be terribly inconvenient, everything is through the console, there is no normal support for video acceleration even at the initial level, and so on.
Take virtualbox, even in fully open source it is not bad, and even with a proprietary extension from oracle and even more convenient, snapshots, 3D acceleration, etc.
