It's not quite clear what you mean by active interface (there can be several and all will be active). But, as an option, if anything, then with the help of nmcli you can quite flexibly view and manage network connections.
Here, for example, the command
will output
Well, or if only the file name (for some script, for example), then it
will return the file name without extra lines
