Is it possible to describe the data model only in the database?

Greetings! At one of the online seminars, I heard how a developer (on erlang) wargaming said that it is enough to describe the data model in functional languages only in the database, without a description in the business logic.
I just don't quite understand how it's done. I want to try it in Node. It might come in.
