Is it possible to change the canonical link?
There is a site example.org, the pages are promotions that duplicate the old promotions in content. The old promotion does not have a "buy" button, but the new one does.
example.org/action/10001
example.org/action/11001
Can I do this:
1) In the action 10001, now set the canonical to 11001.
2) When a new action comes out with a new action time of 12001 - can I register in 10001 in 11001 canonical to 12001.
I.e. I expect the indexed old page in google search to send me to a new page with a new current promotion (when the bot indexes)
Redirect is not preferred here - the old link is also used

Maybe you need a 301 redirect, but you just don't know it?
UPD. They didn’t answer there ...
I don’t know how to explain it to you in a shorter way, so that it’s clear, and not a sheet))) In general ... you don’t need any canonicals. You need a 301 redirect.
Otherwise, your positions will jump like Ivanushka on a humpbacked horse.
Do stock pages give any traffic at all? Sometimes they are generally closed from indexing or in robots.txt
. See if there are any transitions to them and from what sources. And maybe it will not be necessary to hammer the head with this problem. Just close from indexing. I just really can’t imagine what positions and what keywords the promotion pages can have
I would like without it. The old page is also used. I want to do a little blood
