Is it possible to break into gamedev?

There are many companies on the market, including many indie developers. How many of you have ever tried to do something? Is it worth it to start?

Yes, it's worth it. If only a good artist would be a modeler who can make 3d models. Well, you can do 2d. The fact is that suddenly you will make a very interesting game. There are many games, I played them, I don’t feel like playing them anymore. I want to play some new game. If you were into development, that would be good. For example, I made two mini-games. One of them is poker for android. Few people play it, but they do. If I would develop in this direction and still draw well, and there would be an idea for a good game, then I would sell it and earn good money. For example, I recently saw the gamedev tycoon game, maybe you are familiar with it. So in google play this game is sold for 300-something rubles. It has been downloaded over 100 thousand times. What kind of money do you think? But there are only three cards and the rest is prefixes (drawings). So let's stop dreaming, try to do and earn your million already at last. I would suggest developing with unity. It takes a long time to make your move and there are many nuances in the game itself. To scale equally to all devices, so that the text is displayed normally, and if necessary, line by line. Better finished engine.

No, it's not worth it. It's impossible to break through alone.
Why am I sure of this? Because the very fact of this question speaks of the self-doubt of the author of the question.
Those who are confident in themselves do not ask such questions.

Perhaps , but you must understand what you generally want to do, and purposefully go in that direction. It's not clear from the question. Maybe an artist, or a translator, or a lawyer? Is there a real experience or just a dream?
The easiest way to enter gamedev is as a junior tester. But this is never just any bum from the street. You can also try yourself as a junior game designer. In both cases, you need a rich gaming experience and knowledge of games in general. But I'm sure you don't know what these positions do. A tester is not someone who plays games all day long. And a game designer is not someone who comes up with cool ideas and gets paid for it.
You can also try yourself in a support or some kind of moderator on a gaming forum, etc. In all cases, there will be some requirements for you. You need at least some background relevant to your occupation. If this is not the case, then it will not work to break into gamedev.
For example, you want to be at the helm, i.e. you like management. This path is possible: first to the testers, then to the lead of the testers department, then to the PM, then to the gamediss or immediately to the producers. There is no one above the producer, except perhaps the sponsor. And then you suddenly realize that the producer is not the most important, but just a person who has his own role, his own duties and his own area of responsibility. The mistake is that you did not know what you wanted, in the end - disappointment.
You can imagine that game dev is a concrete wall. You can't get your head through it. But you can buy a puncher, this will mean the appropriate education, and ideally - real achievements. Then you can make a hole and step on the other side of the wall. Take your tools with you, there will be other walls further on.
There are many entry points to game development, but concrete is concrete. It's not butter or bread. Swallowing dust is not very pleasant. If you want something simpler - go to another area.

I see indies at conferences all the time, they have great products. Some even win certificates.
I work with developers on social networks. Also, many made a good product in six months. Really.
The main question is what is your role in gamedev.
Tester, designer, developer, publisher?

Someone does, and someone just talks.
For 99% of people this is impossible, because they are lazy / not independent / not persistent, etc.
