Is it possible to adequately maintain version control of working files from AutoCAD (dwg), DOC, XLS and others in a format like GitHub?

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!
Is it possible to adequately maintain version control of working files from AutoCAD (dwg), DOC, XLS and others in a format like GitHub?
I came across the fact that such files are stored in GIT as binary files, which means that each time a new "cast" is created with a new set of files, which increases the size of the repository and is not entirely correct, in my opinion.
What do you suggest?

@keslo

even for plain text data, git creates a new snapshot.
So don't worry about word, etc. Git will just pack all the versions of your file into one pack file, and the size won't increase much. Just check.
