Is it possible through the Facebook Graph API to mark a user in an event as "I'm going"?

The bottom line is this:
There is a button on the site, there is an event on Facebook created not by us, there is an FB application.
Is it necessary that by clicking on the button the current user is automatically marked by the application in the event on FB as "I'm going"?
Is it possible to implement this?
