Is it possible for an admin to follow RSS comments in practice?
I have my own website and I would like to follow user activity (comments) on it not via mail, but via RSS.
Is it practically possible? Not a single comment should be omitted.
Possible problems:
1) It is not clear how many comments the site should give - 10? 100? Absolutely all comments are not kosher. Over the past 2 days, it’s also not very nice - all of a sudden the admin hasn’t looked at the feed for a week.
2) It is not clear how Google Reader will behave, for example - will it suddenly show the last 10 when there are more of them? At least on the initial import, GR does just that.

It's probably easier to write a script to send comments via Jabber (for example).
And do not miss the concept of "follow" - it will retain its meaning.
If you use Google Reader, then it reads rss with comments quite adequately. You go on vacation and all the comments are neatly stored for them.
That's just the question of efficiency is still the same. It may take several hours, or maybe even in a minute - google itself somehow regulates the frequency of updating rss. But personally, I don’t care - my cache lives for an hour, and comments are delayed for an hour too.
Google Reader can be used. It will store all the elements of the RSS feed, but navigating through the old elements is not very convenient.
Google Reader requests RSS with some frequency, from several hours to several minutes. As far as I remember, it depends on the number of subscribers, but I have not seen it exceed 24 hours. True, in recent weeks there have been some problems: for some reason, some feeds are not updated until I open them.
So you can set the return of comments for the last 24 hours or for a guarantee for 2 days. In this case, no comment should be skipped.
If you understand and configure PubSubHubbub , then updates should be generally in real time.
The last 10 entries are shown only for new feeds, if you switch to show all entries, all previously downloaded ones will be displayed.
