Is it important to use your real name when freelancing?

I have often heard from many freelancers that it is important to use your real name when freelancing.
They say you need to create your own name and work on its reputation. Questions may also arise when paying for the work performed, if the customer found you by a pseudonym, and now you have to pay for a completely different name.

So, how important is it to promote your real name?
Or you can safely work under a pseudonym?
How do customers really feel about it? There are examples?
Are there examples of successful freelancers working under pseudonyms?
What are the arguments for and against?

PS I mean the use of not a nickname, but for example a more consonant / eye-catching / memorable surname, and leave the real name.

If you are not going to do something bad and this is important to you, then use a pseudonym. Every person has reasons not to give their real name.

The right to remain anonymous is solely your right. Ultimately, your skills and abilities will play a decisive role.
