Is it harmful to read from a phone with an IPS screen?

Hello, I want to buy a smartphone with a good IPS screen of 5 or 5.5 inches. There is a desire to read books that I don’t have in print. I think whether it is worth buying an additional e-book or getting by with a smart one (read a few books, I think there will be nothing terrible).

Many articles have been written about harm and you don’t know which one to believe. Reading books on a smartphone screen is equally harmful as reading messages or playing games, but the convenience of reading is another matter. Almost all readers prefer e-books (many articles have also been written about their advantages).
It’s better for you to try on your own experience and take different gadgets from your friends to see for yourself. The difference between a smartphone screen and an electronic ink screen is especially visible in bright sunlight. With a reader you have like a regular book, without highlights. Specifically, the IPS matrix for books does not matter at all. the font is plain, and this matrix conveys colors well (photos, games, videos). Plus, their battery life is different, if half an hour in the subway is one thing, and if on long trips, then you will have to do less brightness to prolong the life of the charge.
Summarizing, there is no more harm than from another screen, but convenience is on the side of readers.

It is harmful to read from everything that shines with its own light. Backlit e-ink e-books use reflected light, which is similar to the light from a lamp striking the page of a book.

I will share my experience. I have a smartphone, an e-book, and paper books :)
And reading even ordinary books is harmful! So it's all about the extent to which the eyes strain. And they can also strain from an ordinary book of poor quality, lighting and shaking in transport. Also, the eyes can strain from an e-book with which you are trying to read a flimsy PDF file with inconvenient formatting.
My e-book is 8" backlit on android. It's nice to read, of course, but on a smartphone I like the way the page obeys my fingers: I wanted to move the page a bit - everything is done instantly and exactly as I want. On the touch screen e- ink is also possible, but the sensations are completely different.
I have a 5.5 "martphone (slightly smaller than a regular reader), with a resolution of 1920x1080, so PPI (dots per inch) of 400.53 is a cool retina! Often it's more comfortable for me to take a smartphone than a reader. I'm
too lazy to carry an e-book with me. And don't I know when I want to read, but there is no code. And the phone is always with me. So it turns out that you are going somewhere in the subway, took your phone out of your pocket and started reading. So in the subway, in between times, I read The Brothers Karamazov on my smartphone :)
