Is it faster to load images from a subdomain?

Actually, I heard that a browser from one domain can load 5-6 threads. if I add subdomains for images, then it is logical to assume that this will speed up loading due to the fact that the site will actually be loaded in 10-12 threads. or am I wrong?

Not right. The connection limit must be changed on the server to have any real effect. And most servers only allow 2 connections per unique client. 5 threads that the browser loads is not equal to 5 connections to the server.
